I tend to have very specific views…And I have a hard time wrapping my brain around why people act the way they do. Maybe this makes me narrow minded. Maybe this makes me close minded. And quite frankly, I’m okay with that. If being narrow minded, or close minded makes me a bad person because I was raised to always try to treat others the way I’d like to be treated, to open doors for the elderly, to donate and volunteer and help where I can, and to take care of my own to the best of my ability, then so be it. Label me!

One thing that bothers me to the point that I tend to get physically ill when I’m around this type of person or situation, is this prevailing thought that we are entitled to anything. Get this through your thick skull people…YOU AREN’T! The world doesn’t owe you anything!
Lets look at the definition of entitlement:
a : the state or condition of being entitled : right b : a right to benefits specified especially by law or contract
: a government program providing benefits to members of a specified group; also : funds supporting or distributed by such a program
: belief that one is deserving of or entitled to certain privileges
Definition taken from Merriam Webster. http://www.merriam-webster.com/

If you didn’t fight for our rights or freedom’s as an American, don’t brag or abuse those rights or freedoms! The government has no right to tell anyone they are entitled to anything. There are those whose lot in life is worse than mine, and they do deserve a helping hand, but that doesn’t mean they are automatically entitled to it. Bum deal, but it’s a fact. If you aren’t willing to work for something, then you don’t deserve anything. Just because you think you deserve something, doesn’t mean you do.
I’m sure a few of you may have seen a couple of my tweets today regarding the use of the Military to fight a fire that is currently raging near Colorado Springs Co. My stance is this. Just because you have a military base next door, doesn’t mean you automatically deserve it’s services. There are channels and protocol that need to be followed in order to deploy that military unit to help fight a fire. I’m appalled that people think this is their right and they deserve this. I’m also appalled that many of the people who think this are those same people who knowingly live in the forest. News Flash! Fire happens in the forest…this is why it’s called a WILD FIRE! If you choose to live in these areas…be prepared for the worst to happen. This doesn’t mean I don’t pray for these people. Or volunteer to help, or send money, but I don’t understand why they are so surprised when this happens. It’s HOT. It’s DRY. It’s WINDY. And there are a lot of flammable fuels standing around your houses, laying on the ground, and you yourself have built one right in the middle of all this or made the decision to live there. Don’t like those odds…move!
End of bitter soap box stance.
