Hear Ye! Hear Ye! Announcing…

Hello all!

I have again, been deeply remiss in blogging. You won’t hold it against me to much will you? I dearly hope not.

Spring looks like it might finally start appearing. The trees are budding with those lovely, vibrant, green colors and wild flowers are slowly popping up.

Any idea what these are?

I’ve been working on a few projects, including a bit of sewing. We finally completed (well almost) our bathroom remodel. I will be posting photos soon. We are still sans vanity. I haven’t found the right one yet, and since we don’t use this bathroom very often, leaving it without the vanity seems like a better choice than purchasing something we don’t like. As I write this post, my dear husband is transferring all the construction debris from our shop to a dumpster. I’d be out helping, except he ran me off with a stern warning and a reminder.

Which brings me to my announcement.

We are expecting our first child in October.

I’m finally into the second trimester and feeling wonderful! The first trimester was a doozy, and I’m afraid my husband ate more than a few cardboard pizzas. I’m so thankful that he’s been so supportive, helpful and just plain wonderful. There are times when I can’t believe how easy my life seems. We’ll be having our second ultrasound at the end of May, at which point we’ll be able to learn if it’s a boy or girl. I’m of a mind not to find out, but the husband wants to know. We may find out, but not tell anyone. Fiendish, right?

In other news, I did try this recipe I found on pinterst. It’s for Raspberry Zinger Cake. Go make it this weekend!

Truly delish, and definitely has a “zingerish” taste that comes through. Mine, of course, didn’t turn out quite as pretty as hers, but it’s the taste that matters, right? I think I left my jello to set up for a bit long, which caused it to be actually jello, as opposed to a thick sauce, which I think is what the intent was. Either way, I just piled the jello on each layer along with the coconut and it still tasted great. I almost want to try making this with a lemon cake instead of the yellow cake. And next time I may try it as a poke cake as I seem to have much better results with sheet cakes as opposed to layered cakes.

What do you think of the color scheme below for a nursery/kids room? I don’t want to have a nursery that isn’t going to be functional for the child later on. I also don’t want anything gender specific and I think this fits the bill exactly!

Well, with that I had better go and fold laundry…

Woe to me.
